Tata Sierra CNG Spotted – Launch Sooner Than Expected?

We’ve received new spy shots of the Tata Sierra being tested. The test model could be either the electric version of the Sierra or the CNG version. Let’s decode what it could be and why we think so.

Tata Sierra CNG Spotted? –

Well, the spotted mule’s full camouflage makes it difficult to guess which version of the Sierra it could be. We can have a look at the wheels, which are around 17 inches, and the ADAS suite, which is offered only from the Accomplished variant. In the Accomplished variant, the NA petrol version of the Sierra comes with 17-inch wheels, which match those on the test mule. Now, the test mule wears standard alloys instead of the aero ones offered with the electric version. So, there’s a probability that the spotted test mule could be the CNG version of the Sierra.

The interior of the spotted mule showcases a dual-screen setup and an automatic gearbox. The NA petrol version gets the DCT gearbox option; however, if the test mule could be a CNG, we can expect a new TC gearbox to be introduced. Honouring it, the Sierra will be another addition to Tata’s CNG automatic offering. Once Sierra gets CNG, Tata could also consider offering the same with the Curvv.

What Else Could It Be?

There’s also a possibility that this could be the electric version of the model. However, the chances are very slim. We are saying this because the grille is body-coloured rather than black. Also, in the Sierra EV, the charging panel is on the left side, as in the normal models, unlike other Tata cars, which have their charging panel on the driver’s side.

Tata Sierra EV Launch

Tata Sierra EV is scheduled to launch on June 30, but this could be a reveal of the SUV instead of a price reveal. We expect the Tata Sierra EV to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 28 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
